Weekend of Labor: Part 2

We finished tiling our master bathroom!!! I didn't think this day would ever come and really not even close to being finished, but the tile is up. We actually started a few weeks ago and then realized that we wanted to change the fixtures. So, in order to that we had to take down all our hard work and then start over again. We still have to grout and then there is painting, new counter tops, new lights, etc., but for now we are done.

Montana Trip

As usual I am late with the post of our fabulous trip to Montana to visit my mom. Although, I like to live by the motto, "better late than never" so here we go.

Two weekends ago Coby and I traveled to Helena, Montana where there was snow and tons of cold weather to be had. The crazy part was actually flying into Helena. Since they don't have a lot of business (6 flights a day to be exact) coming through their airport, we had to ride a plane that Coby could barely fit on. Before we took off they had to move us to the back of the plane to even out the weight so we could take off haha.

We spent two full days driving all around Montana and even made it down to Yellowstone. Most of the park was closed since is the off season up there, but we did manage to see the Mamouth Hotsprings. Montana was absolutly beautiful and hopefully we will be able to go back in the summer when more things are open and its not quite so cold.Right outside of Helena on our first day.

Weekend Update

Unfortunately we were not able to find time to finish our master bathroom tile project, so stay tuned for that. Friday night we both sat around and did nothing! Saturday morning we woke up and went to Lake Tawakoni for a one night camping trip. Our good friends Marco and Whitney met us out there and we had a great time! While camping we had the pleasure of meeting our extremely gay camping neighbors, who were very entertaining to say the least.

Sunday morning we woke up early and headed back home. We had a baby shower at 2pm and a wedding at 5pm, two great places to eat tons of cake!

The baby shower was for one of my sorority sisters Debra who is having a little boy in December. While I was at the shower, Coby was at Twin Peaks (the only place he could find, yeah right) watching the football games. We played the melted candy bar in a diaper guess game, which I was really excited about. There was also another game called Baby Fear Factor that I got picked to play. There were three of us who were blind folded and the mom to be fed us baby food and then we had to guess what it was. I must admit that some baby food is pretty tasty (apples, bananas, prunes) while others (peas and Macaroni and cheese) should never be feed to anyone!

After a few fun-filled hours of baby talk Coby picked me up and we were off to Frisco. The wedding was for a college friend of mine named Sheena that I lived in the dorm with. The address on the invitation was wrong, so we got to the church as Sheena was waiting outside to walk in (OOPS). So we patiently waited for her to make her grand entrance and then snuk in behind her. The church was really small so we had to stand in the back with all the other people who were late.

While shopping for Sheena's wedding gift I came across the cutest mug ever!! It was zebra with a pink M on it ( those are three things I cant pass up). I defiantly begged Coby to let me buy it to which his response was " You can get it if you drink out of it everyday, otherwise you own me $8". So I am now the proud owner of a pink and zebra mug and yes I have used it everyday since Friday!!

Reno update

This weekend we picked up where we left off in our master bathroom renovation. After getting all the demo done, we moved on to the few add on's that we wanted. In the old shower there was no place to put our shampoo/soap bottles and the little hanging shelves just didnt cut it. Coby came up with the idea to have built in cubbies and boy did that turn out to be a lot more work than we originally thought.

We spent all day saturday measuring, cutting and insalling cement board and drywall. We were on a roll when the tricker treaters started to arrive. So Coby kept on working while I handed out candy to all the kids that stopped by. By 12:00 am we were ready to tile, so Coby went to the garage to get the tile saw that we bought. When we opened the package we realised that someone had used it and then returned it. Everything in the box was dirty, rusty and dull. So neadless to say we didnt get to set our first row of tiles like we had planned.

This morning we woke up bright and early and headed to Home Depot to get some caulk and exchange our tile saw. When we got home we started to layout our tiles and mix the mortar. Our shower walls were not as sturdy as would have liked, so it made setting the tiles a lot harder. Coby (my savior) spent a least an hour trying to level all the tiles out and make sure they were all even. Once we got the first row in the shower, I started to tile the first row around the bathtub.

We want to make sure the the first rows are secure before we work our way up, so for now we are at a stopping point. Hopefully we will get the rest finished in the next few weeks!
